So I seem to have signed up to trek across some volcanoes in Iceland with Chloe Madeley and Vicky from Geordie Shore and I need to raise a lot of money! If you want to know why, read on...
As some of you may know, I was diagnosed with breast cancer four years ago, when I was 29. What you might not know is that before I was diagnosed, I had a few misdiagnoses, and I consider myself pretty lucky.
My friend Kris was not as lucky. Kris's cancer was diagnosed at the incurable stage when she was 23 years old, simply because her doctors failed to take her seriously because she was 'too young' for breast cancer.
Kris is now 30 and has just run her first half marathon, despite living with cancer, just 'cause she's amazing like that. She set up CoppaFeel! not long after her diagnosis back in 2009 and for the last seven years she's been busy spreading her mission across the UK: to stamp out late detection and misdiagnosis.
Kris's small army of 'Boobettes' - myself included (yep!) - go to schools and festivals around the country, mostly wearing giant boobs, educating young men and women about cancer and asking them to do just one task: get to know their bodies and regularly 'cop a feel' to check for anything unusual.
To fundraise for CoppaFeel!, this August I'm trekking along Iceland's Landmannalaugar route, one of the most actively volcanic areas in the country, hiking a total of 58km through the lava fields and glacial landscape.
Excitingly, I am joining Kris herself on the trip, as well as celebrity trekkers Vicky Pattison off of Geordie Shore (let's face it, she's the real reason I signed up), and Chloe Madeley, Richard and Judy's exercise-crazy daughter.
NB: I'll happily do my best Geordie/Cheryl Cole impression in return for sponsor money.
I'll be holding some supper clubs from May onwards to help reach my fundraising target - stay tuned for dates, details and menus.
In the mean time, please consider sponsoring me whatever you can manage - even the smallest donation will put a smile on my face.
PS I'm doing a 10k Silent Disco Dash in May as a warm-up. Please join me! http://www.silentdiscodash.com
